Early Warning Notifications

An Early Warning Notification (EWN) is a type of communication that identifies potential cost, time, and/or performance implications to a contract.

When a contract issue has been identified by either the project manager or the contractor, the other party is notified. The initiator determines whether an internal review is required, and if necessary, the review is completed prior to issuing the Early Warning Notification. The project manager and contractor then work together to determine the risks and mitigating actions, and assign them to the appropriate resources. Once all assigned actions have been completed, the project manager closes out the EWN.
